Veronica Tyler, soprano, producer, director, teacher, coach, earned degrees at the Peabody Conservatory of Music with subsequent study at the Julliard School of Music and received from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland the degree, Doctor of Humane Letters (honoris causa). Her career was highlighted early with a first prize in the Munich International Competition in Germany and she was the New York regional winner of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions, going on to win the Fisher Foundation award.

Ms. Tyler's television, film, radio, Broadway and concert career has included opera, oratorio, symphonic engagements and solo recitals throughout the world. She has been guest soloist with The New York Philharmonic, the Oslo Philharmonic, the National, Los Angeles, Boston, Houston, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, St. Louis, New Jersey, Buffalo, Florida, Atlanta, Detroit, San Francisco, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Chicago Symphony Orchestras, The Symphony of the New World, The Symphony of the United Nations, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, The Orchestra of America and a host of others. The conductors with whom she has sung are Maestros Leonard Bernstein, Richard Bonynge, Eugene Ormandy, Carlo Maria Guilini, Julius Rudel, Leopold Stokowski, Zubin Mehta, Erich Leinsdorf, Walter Susskind, Abraham Kaplan, Robert Shaw, Sergiu Commissiona, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, William Steinberg, James Levine, Gerald Levine, Otto Werner-Mueller, Hans Swarowsky, Lorin Mazel, Joseph Krips, Palve Despalj, Lukas Foss, Murray Glass, Yun Taik Hong, Erich Kunzel, Leopold LaRosa, Henry Lewis, Klaro Mizerit, Izler Solomon, Tamas Vasary and others.

Ms. Tyler has also appeared at the Bergen Festival in Norway, the Berkshire Music Festival at Tanglewood, the Hollywood Bowl, the Garden State Festival, the Robin Hood Dell, the Spoleto Festival in Italy, the Artscape Festival in Baltimore, the Lincoln Center Promenade Concerts, Radio City Music Hall, the New York City Ballet and with Today's Artists Concerts at Carnegie Hall, Tully Hall, and in San Francisco. Veronica Tyler has sung numerous performances with the New York City Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, the San Francisco Opera, the Finnish National Opera, the Teatro la Fenice in Venice, Central City Opera, and at the Kennedy Center Opera House Opening. Her roles include Contessa Almaviva, Pamina, Ilia, Mimi, Liu, Dalinda, Princess Ericlea, Micaela, Serena, Susan B. Anthony, Lucy, and Teresa (of Avila).

Ms. Tyler returned to Europe to guest star in Bordeaux, France and in Hannover, Germany. Her "Donna Elvira" was heard on the occasion of the 200-year celebration of Mozart's Don Giovanni with the London Mozart Players at the Seville (Spain) International Festival of Music and Dance. Ms. Tyler starred in the CBS-TV special, Tidings of Great Joy and in the made-for-TV play, “He’s Got the Whole World” (Laura Woods). She appeared several times on the Tonight Show and hosted her own radio talk show, “Do You Want to Talk About It?” on WRUF. Ms. Tyler performed for several state occasions at the White House. In theater she starred in "No Man is an Island", Dawn Douglas, Dir., and "El Greco", Tom O'Horgan, Dir. She has recorded for Columbia Records, Mercury Stereo, and American Artists. Her films include "Pilgrimage", Beni Montresor, Dir., and "A Midsummer Nights Dream", George Balanchine, Choreographer.

Ms. Tyler has been Director of Opera and Professor of Voice at the University of Florida, University of Missouri, and Morgan State University. She was Professor of Voice and conducted Master Classes at the University of Michigan and the Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University. She was appointed Artistic Director of the University of Rhode Island "Summer Opera Theater" and is invited to conduct Master Classes in universities throughout the country. Ms. Tyler is Artistic Director, Stage director and Music Editor for Opera Express.

Ms. Tyler has been Creator, Writer, Director and Star for many original productions, including “Great Women of Opera” (one-woman show), “Le jardin d’amour,” “Places, Please!” (a concert play* for all voice types), “Rehearsals” (a concert play for solo voice), “Woman, Thy Color Is Love”, New York Premier, presented by Four Seasons Concerts at Weill Hall in Carnegie Hall, and most recently, the concert play “The “Soap in Opera,”© “Episode IV: Susanna vs. The Count”© presented by Four Seasons Concerts at Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

The Honorable Kurt L. Schmoke, Mayor of the City of Baltimore, issued a proclamation establishing "Veronica Tyler Day" in Baltimore, urging all citizens to join in the celebration.
